Members

Who is in the group

Any farmer growing food organically along the Outeniqua mountain range — roughly from Mossel Bay to the Crags — is welcome to apply.

Three kinds of member

Membership is annual and open to anyone in the group's catchment who works to the same principles — not only to farmers.

Farmer & producer members

Any farmer growing food organically along the Outeniqua mountain range — roughly from Mossel Bay to the Crags — is welcome to apply.

Farmer members sign the pledge, supply the information the group needs to assess them, and attend at least two other farm visits a year.

OPP §I, §3.2

Consumer members

Consumers join the same group on the same terms. They sit on farm visit committees — a visit has at least one consumer on it — and they take part in the quarterly meetings where the group's work is planned.

OPP §3.1, §3.3

Retailer & market members

Independent retailers and markets that source organic produce from the group's farms join as members and attend the visits from which they source.

OPP §3.1, §3.3

Membership is not certification

The people and farms listed here are members of the Outeniqua Natural and Organic PGS group. Membership of the group is not a certification, and does not by itself mean that a farm is certified organic. A certification decision is a separate judgement made by the group's certification committee against the SAOSO standard, and is recorded as such. Please do not read this list as a claim about any farm's organic status.

The member list is being prepared for publication. names & consent — POPIA

Membership is a requirement for endorsement

A farmer must be a paid-up member to be assessed, and only fully paid-up members are eligible for a farm assessment. Membership is a requirement for any farmer wishing to be PGS endorsed — but endorsement is a separate judgement, recorded by the committee after a visit.
